Become a Party Volunteer (Long Island)

Birthday Wishes Party Volunteers play an important role in our mission to bring the joy of a birthday party to children experiencing homelessness. Party Volunteers are members of the community who are able to make a one year commitment to assist Party Coordinators in hosting monthly birthday parties for children at an assigned homeless shelter.

Who can be a Party Volunteer?

Anyone over 18 years old. If a teen wishes to be involved a parent or guardian must be the primary contact and also attend parties. Volunteers should have a strong interest in working with families experiencing homelessness. Experience working with children is a plus.

What do Party Volunteers do?

Under the direction of the Party Coordinator,  party volunteers engage in in age appropriate activities and games during their monthly parties. Party Volunteers are also hands on in assisting with setup, break down, and other tasks during the party.

We are always looking for talented people to help out with entertainment at parties! Let us know if you have a fun skill, such as face painting, balloon animals, magic or anything else that entertains children.

What is the time commitment to be a Party Volunteer?

Volunteers are asked to make a minimum commitment of one year, assisting our Party Coordinators in throwing the party. Parties are typically weekday evenings between 6:00-7:30 p.m. Days and time vary by location, but are often set on a same-day-every-month schedule. Volunteers are assigned to a single shelter in order to provide consistency for the children..
