Many Hands, Many Celebrations

At Birthday Wishes, we often say that one act of kindness can turn into something much bigger. Lately, we’ve been seeing that play out in real time.

Back in February, the Our Lady of the Rosary Columbiettes showed up in an incredible way. They donated 180 Birthdays-in-a-Box, along with wrapping paper, toys, and a generous financial gift to support our Long Island program. Several Lions Clubs, including Concord Lions Club, Acton Lions Club, Lexington Lions Club, Woburn Host Lions Club, Woburn Middlesex Lions Club, and Woburn Breakfast Lions Club also came together to build a few hundered teen Birthdays-in-a Box, along with materials for all the boxes including gift cards.

We’ve also been continuing our work with the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children, and their team recently hosted a Teen Birthday-in-a-Box build. They’ve already put together more than 160 boxes, with a goal of reaching 400 by the end of the month. And just as importantly, their grant support is helping us include $25 gift cards in every box; something that really matters for teens, giving them the chance to choose something for themselves.

And recently, we were honored to be selected by employees at Lowell Five Bank through their workplace giving program. Employees chose Birthday Wishes and contributed through their paychecks, with those gifts matched by the bank. On top of that, they came together in person to build graduation boxes and wrap gifts.

What ties all of this together isn’t just generosity. It’s intention.

It’s people deciding that a milestone, whether a birthday or a graduation, should be acknowledged. We’re incredibly grateful to the Our Lady of the Rosary Columbiettes, Bright Horizons Foundation for Children, and Lowell Five Bank. Because of you, celebrations are happening that otherwise might not have.
