Birthday Wishes Joins New York Islanders for Hockey with the Heart

Birthday Wishes was honored to participate in the New York Islanders’ Hockey with the Heart program on April 6th, an initiative that brings together local nonprofits and the community to support meaningful causes. As part of this partnership, Birthday Wishes had the opportunity to raise awareness about our mission and fundraise during an exciting Islanders game. 

Our amazing volunteers were instrumental to the success of this event, tirelessly selling 50/50 raffle tickets throughout the arena. Thanks to their dedication and the generosity of Islanders fans, an incredible $50,000 worth of tickets were sold—one of the highest totals to date! As a result, Birthday Wishes will receive 25% of the proceeds to help bring joy and birthday celebrations to children experiencing homelessness. 

“It was inspiring to see how many people cared and were willing to contribute to Birthday Wishes,” said Abby, one of our volunteers. By the end of the day, we raised a significant amount of money – more importantly, we created a sense of community and awareness about the challenges these children face and how they deserve to be celebrated.”  

Jamie Rapfogel, Director of Birthday Wishes’ Long Island Office, expressed deep gratitude for the support from the Islanders organization. “We are incredibly thankful to the New York Islanders for including us in Hockey with the Heart and for their commitment to making a difference in the lives of children in need. This partnership allows us to continue our mission of bringing joy and a sense of normalcy to children living in shelters.”
